My name is Ann Finifrock.  I am excited to be back at Moose Lake High School.  After completing my undergraduate degree from the College of St. Scholastica, I taught my first 12 years at MLHS as a Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Teacher.  I left to teach Special Education at Cloquet High School where I finished my Master's of Special Education from the University of Wisconsin, Superior.  Following that, I taught 11 years at Barnum High School where our two boys attended school.  I took two years off from teaching to work at a day program for adults with special needs as their Program and Activities Coordinator, which our youngest son was part of.  It feels good to be back working at Moose Lake High School.

Life skills have always been a passion of mine.  I really strive to help students learn practical skills that will benefit them as they become contributing members of society.  While in Barnum, I was instrumental in setting up the PAES (Practical Assessment Exploration Systems) lab, which has now been moved to Moose Lake.  This is a shared program between Barnum, Moose Lake, and Willow River schools.  PAES gives students a hands-on opportunity to do various job tasks in 5 different areas:  Consumer/Service, Business, Construction/Industrial, Processing/Production, and Computer/Technology.  PAES looks at the employability skills, including accuracy and speed students demonstrate as well as individual student interests.   I also work closely with a Work Based Learning Coordinator through the Northern Lights Special Education Cooperative to help give our students opportunities to learn practical skills to help them be successful in the workplace.
