Walk The School
          Our doors are open once again and the community may use our hallways.  Available hours are Mondays-Fridays 6:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m. & 3:45 p.m.-8:00 p.m.. *Please note that some hallways will not be available on home game nights as they will be locked.


Guitar Lessons With Mr. Walton
Learn how to play the guitar this year!  Mr. Walton will be offering thirty minute private lessons after school on Mondays & Tuesdays beginning January 9th-March 28th.  Guitars will be provided to students to use during their lesson, but they’ll need to purchase and bring their own guitar method book, “Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1”.   Students in grades 2-12 are invited to participate, once you’ve  registered and selected your time slot, it’s yours for the duration.  For more information and to register,  please contact Mr. Walton:

Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Program

The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute gives everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, and the colorful magazine format of the student book makes learning fun. From getting started with your business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. “Greetings! My name is Ariane Bromberg, I am a youth enrichment instructor and have over twenty-five years working in the childhood field, as a childcare provider, mentor, advocate, and instructor. I’m an authorized American Safety and Health Institute instructor for the Child and Babysitting Safety Program (CABS).”

Home Alone
Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared.  This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, serve weather, fire safety, intruders and first aid tips.  Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.  Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.

Come and learn all about the art of fermentation and discover many varieties of pickling methods and samples.  You’ll also take home your very own Kombucha starter!    We’ll share our tried and true recipes, techniques, successes & failures!  Taught by friendly local home fermenters.

55+ Driver Refresher & Eight Hour Courses- must take the Eight Hour Course before Refreshers
Save 10% on your Auto Insurance. The MN Highway Safety and Research Center at St. Cloud State Univ. developed this program, specifically for Senior Drivers. It consists of 4 hours of lecture, discussion and educational videos. There are no written or behind the wheel tests. Upon completion of the course, drivers over the age of 55 are eligible for a 10% discount on their auto insurance. Youth Classroom Driver’s Education *Please refer to millelacsdriving.com to register & for info.
Community Education offers teen driver’s education in cooperation with Tim and Catrina Roth of Mille Lacs Driving Instruction (MLDI).  The goal of MLDI is not only to have students pass their driving test, but to help them become safe drivers. All instructors are licensed by the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Classroom instruction prepares the student to take the MN permit test.  Visit their website for further information. Students may sign up for any session.

Dance For Fitness & Fun!
Maura is back, ready to dance!  This 7 week session is open to both beginning and intermediate level students. It focuses on applying the movements associated with Belly Dance and various foreign cultures to exercise. The class will include stretching, review, introduction to advanced movements, a short aerobic routine and learning a choreographed dance. Pre-registration with Community Education is required to attend class.

Aroma Slow Flow Yoga
This class will combine flowing movements, breath, and carefully selected aromas/essential oils in a calm vinyasa practice. This class consists of Sun Salutations, standing postures, balancing poses, twists, basic inversions, and always ends with a deep, relaxing savasana. Slow Flow is perfect for those who want to explore breath work and meditation, or just slow down and deepen into their practice. Whether you are new to yoga or well-versed, we are all learning together and there is a place for you in this practice. Bring a mat & join instructor, Julie Rose, (RYT 200) for this 6 week session.

A perfect opportunity to learn all about saws, nailers, drills & more!  MLHS teacher, Mr. Paul Olson is offering this exciting class designed for beginner & intermediate skilled builders.  He’s certain that you’ll be able to make this 33-1/2in.x 82-¾ in. popular shelf in only three evenings. All tools and supplies will be available, just bring your thirst for knowledge and you’ll be amazed at what you can learn and accomplish!
