Beginning Glass Fusing Techniques -Pendants & Magnets-CANCELED, Tracy will be teaching another fused glass class on March 19th, Suncatchers, but you can choose to make pendants instead.  
Create artworks from layering glass, then firing in a kiln.  Discover the art of kiln-forming including types of glass & basic principles of compatibility.  Learn the hand tools and equipment for scoring, cutting, cold working and shaping glass.  Choose from transparent, dichroic, sheet glass and glass stringers.  Students will make six works of art, each magnet or pendant will be a 1” square.  Projects will need to be picked up a week after the class and pendant bails will be glued on at this time. Adults & students 14+.

Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Program
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute gives everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, and the colorful magazine format of the student book makes learning fun. From getting started with your business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. “Greetings!  Home Alone
Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared.  This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, serve weather, fire safety, intruders and first aid tips.  Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.  Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.

Community Education offers teen driver’s education in cooperation with Tim and Catrina Roth of Mille Lacs Driving Instruction (MLDI).  The goal of MLDI is not only to have students pass their driving test, but to help them become safe drivers. All instructors are licensed by the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Classroom instruction prepares the student to take the MN permit test.  Visit their website for further information.

55+ Drive Refresher Courses

Save 10% on your Auto Insurance. The MN Highway Safety and Research Center at St. Cloud State Univ. developed this program, specifically for Senior Drivers. It consists of 4 hours of lecture, discussion and educational videos. There are no written or behind the wheel tests. Upon completion of the course, drivers over the age of 55 are eligible for a 10% discount on their auto insurance. Welcome friends to your home with a lovely hand painted sign!  Join Breana Crotteau for an afternoon of FUN while you create two signs on one walnut stained board-double sided for an easy season switch! “Nate, my husband bought me a cameo silhouette that I use to create designs that are cut out of vinyl and transferred onto the wood via paint. I do all the woodwork and cut designs before the class & you’ll get to place, paint and detail your sign as you'd like.”

Dance For Fitness & Fun!
Maura is back, ready to dance!  This 7 week session is open to both beginning and intermediate level students. It focuses on applying the movements associated with Belly Dance and various foreign cultures to exercise. The class will include stretching, review, introduction to advanced movements, a short aerobic routine and learning a choreographed dance. Pre-registration with Community Education is required to attend class.

Fused Glass Collage Sun Catchers-Or Pendants, you choose.
These suncatchers are made with blocks of fusible glass and a variety of decorative glass. Let your imagination go wild when choosing your glass and accent pieces!  MLHS Art teacher, Tracy Little, will guide you through the process, fire your pieces and you can pick them up a week later.  Don’t want a suncatcher? You can make individual magnets instead!  All proceeds from the class will benefit the Art Club.     Adults & students 14+.

Aroma Slow Flow Yoga
This class will combine flowing movements, breath, and carefully selected aromas/essential oils in a calm vinyasa practice. This class consists of Sun Salutations, standing postures, balancing poses, twists, basic inversions, and always ends with a deep, relaxing savasana. Slow Flow is perfect for those who want to explore breathwork and meditation, or just slow down and deepen into their practice. Whether you are new to yoga or well-versed, we are all learning together and there is a place for you in this practice. Bring a mat & join instructor, Julie Rose, (RYT 200) for this 6 week session.

Line Dancing for Youth & Adults at Willow River Schools
No partner? No problem!  Line dancing provides great exercise and offers a great platform for social interaction. Join instructor, Tabitha Zimmer, as she teaches you multiple dances that can also be enjoyed outside of the class- weddings, family get-togethers, & and dance clubs.  “For those who want to, I would like to show off our skills at nursing homes & maybe a flash mob or two!  All levels of dancers are welcome.”

Corrugated Tin Raised Garden Beds

Here’s the chance to make your own raised garden bed, just like the ones in the Community Garden & Orchard located next to the bus garage.  You’ll get hands-on experience and tried and true practices as we build a bed or two or three during the class. Don’t have materials or tools to make one at home?  We’ll have kits made for you to partially assemble, then finish at home.  These kits will fit in the back of a pickup and are approximately  3ft. x8 ft.  You’ll only need a drill to finish the project at home.  Taught by Vicki Radzak & Conrad Ross, (experienced but not exact) tin garden bed enthusiasts.

Crepe Paper Flowers-Canceled, we'll offer it again this Fall. 
April showers are bringing crepe paper flowers this year!  Designed for beginners, in this class you’ll learn how to make stunningly life-like crepe paper roses with a master of the craft, Cherie Alberg.  However, even if you have some experience with paper flowers, you might just pick up a few tips or two as Cherie’s talent with crepe paper is amazing and she’s eager to share her trials & tribulations with you.  Each step of making the flower will be thoroughly explained in this hands-on class and you’ll leave with up to a dozen roses!    *Please register by April 18th.  For ages 14+.
