Scenic Canvas Painting Class
AGE to age Event


Create a beautiful 12"x16" Ocean Scene on Canvas, based on the artwork of instructor Charlene Herrick.  No experience necessay!  All instruction and materials are provided and you leave with a completed piece of artwork-you'll amaze yourself!  For ages 11+. Coffee and cookies are provided.

Ocean Painting


Home Alone
The reality of being home alone can evoke fear and anxiety in many children.  Whether left alone for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, children should feel comfortable being alone.  This workshop for children will address several topics relating to being home alone, including personal safety tips, tricky people, basic first aid, fire safety, handling the unexpected, internet safety, gun safety, dealing with lonliness and boredom, storm safety, dealing with siblings and trust & honesty.  Parents are encouraged to review the take-home information and discuss it with their child. *Don't forget to send a note with your child's teacher so they can stay after school.
KIDS PLUS/Comm. Ed. Room
Monday, May 14th  3:30-5:30 p.m. 
 (Vicki will collect the students after school & give them a snack before the class starts) . Parents must enter the school to pick up their child at 5:30-room is located to the right of the Commons.

Walk the School

You’re welcome to walk the halls in the new school.  We have roughly 1,300 steps to our hallways-come on in and find out for yourself!  

The school halls are available from 6:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. 
Mondays-Fridays while school is in session. 


Gymnastics  April/May Session
Gymnastics is a sport designed to develop strength, coordination, balance and flexibility.   Class will include warm up, stretching and basic tumbling as well as balance beam and vault activities.  Instructor, Carrie Sandell is the MLWR Cheerleading Coach.

*Vicki will be meeting the K-2 students in front of the Auditorium when they are released for the day.   She will be supervising the Adv.2nd/3rd-6th graders in the Commons area, where they will be reading or finishing their homework.  Teachers will need to be notified.  Please send a snack with your student. Please pick up your gymnast on time-students get very worried......*Vicki will only be supervising until 4:20 p.m..  Please pick up your K-2 graders at 4:15.

Babysitting Clinic
            Students in the 4th-8th Grades are invited to learn the responsibilities of being a prepared, safe, responsible and professional babysitter.  Topics include starting your own babysitting business, child development, behavior guidance, supervision, proper feeding & diapering techniques, personal safety, medical emergencies, basic first aid care and fire safety.  Students receive a Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) book and will demonstrate required knowledge and skill objectives for the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) approved Child and Babysitting Safety Certification Card.  The instructor, Kari Fairclough, provides baby dolls, bottles, and diaper supplies for skills participation.  The course is developed by the ASHI and approved by the American Pediatrics Association.  Students attend this class independently.  Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.    *This course lasts three hours, but goes by quickly 
 Plus, we’ll have great snacks for you!!

Youth Driver's Education
Community Education offers teen driver’s education in cooperation with Mille Lacs Driving Instruction (MLDI) The goal of MLDI is not only to have students pass their driving test, but to help them become safe drivers.  All instructors are licensed by the MN Dept. of Public Safety.  Classroom instruction prepares the student to take the MN permit test.  Classroom locations will vary between ML High School and Barnum High School.    *You must call or email MLDI to register.  320-676-3409 ttroth@hotmail.com    
                        Course Fee:  $100 for Classroom    $260 for Behind the Wheel

Driver's Education


Genealogy-access to ancestry.com 

We’re able to offer space and access to ancestry.com for another year!  Take advantage of this special offer brought to you with our AGE to age grant and volunteer instructor/genealogy guru, Rita Baresh.  Join other enthusiasts and gain wonderful insights on how to navigate many genealogy websites.   Join at any time, work at your own pace, you do not have to attend every night in order to gain an invaluable insight.

55+ Drive Refresher & 8 Hour Courses
Save 10% on your Auto Insurance.  The MN Highway Safety and Research Center at St. Cloud State Univ. developed this program, specifically for Senior Drivers.  It consists of 8 hours of lecture, discussion and educational videos.  There are no written or behind the wheel tests.  Upon completion of the course, drivers over the age of 55 are eligible for a 10% discount on their auto insurance.  Topics covered include:  Habits and Attitudes, Tires and Traction, Signs,  etc..           Please make payments to MLCE prior to the class date.
