Gymnastic Classes are Back!

Spring/Summer Gymnastics                                                                 Carrie is back!!  Have you been missing gymnastics??  Class will include warm up, stretching, and basic tumbling as well as balance beam and vault activities.   Instructor, Carrie Sandell is the MLWR Cheerleading Coach and her philosophy is to incorporate students of all abilities in each of her classes, giving them a challenging  physical workout & good form to enhance their gymnastic abilities. *Parents, please stay on site and wait outside of the Gymnastics Class- Carrie will invite you in on the last day of the session for a show!  Also, Vicki will be here to supervise the 3 evenings of school year classes, send a note to your in order to stay after school.  Please pick up your student immediately after their class.  NOTE:  There will be no supervision during summer vacation hours, parents & guardians MUST stay on site during lessons.


Fox Trot & A Little East   Coast Swing
A relaxed, flexible, fun introduction to partnership dancing.  An easy presentation of basic steps, music and style of the most popular social dances.  Verna Mae & Ernie Olson are back home from Florida, ready for another session of dance lessons, friendship & fun!  We’ll add in a little East Coast Swing as well.

Walk The School

You’re more than welcome to walk the halls in our new school.  We have roughly 1,300 steps to our hallways-come on it and find out for yourself!  The school halls are available from 6:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m. and 4:00-6:00 p.m., Mondays-Fridays while school is in session.



Youth Driver’s Education Classroom

Community Education offers teen driver’s education in cooperation with Mille Lacs Driving Instruction (MLDI) The goal of MLDI is not only to have students pass their driving test, but to help them become safe drivers.  All instructors are licensed by the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Classroom instruction prepares the student to take the MN permit test. Classroom locations will vary between ML High School and Barnum High School.  *You must call or email MLDI to register.  320-676-3409 ttroth@hotmail.com

55+ Drive Refresher & Eight Hour Courses

Save 10% on your Auto Insurance.  The MN Highway Safety and Research Center at St. Cloud State Univ. developed this program, specifically for Senior Drivers.  It consists of 8 hours of lecture, discussion and educational videos. There are no written or behind the wheel tests. Upon completion of the course, drivers over the age of 55 are eligible for a 10% discount on their auto insurance.  Topics covered include: Habits and Attitudes, Tires and Traction, Signs, etc. Please make payments to MLCE prior to the class date. Babysitting Clinic (CABS Child & Babysitting Safety)

Learn the responsibilities of being a prepared, safe, responsible and professional babysitter.  Topics include starting your own babysitting business, child development, behavior guidance, supervision, proper feeding & diapering techniques, personal safety, medical emergencies, basic first aid care and fire safety.  Students receive a Child & Babysitting Safety book and certification card. This course is developed by the American Safety and Health Institute and taught by Kari Fairclough. For students in 4th-8th grades.


MLHS Comm.Ed/KIDS Plus Room

April 29  3:30-6:30   **3 hour class, you must stay for entire length of class

Course Fee:  $40 Snacks provided.




Home Alone

The reality of being home alone can evoke fear and anxiety in many children.  Whether left alone for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, children should feel comfortable being alone.  This workshop for children will address several topics relating to being home alone, including personal safety tips, tricky people, basic first aid, fire safety, handling the unexpected, internet safety, gun safety, dealing with loneliness and boredom, storm safety, dealing with siblings and trust & honesty.  Parents are encouraged to review the take-home information and discuss it with their child. Students attend this class independently.  *Don't forget to send a note with your child's teacher so they can stay after school. For students in grades 3-6.


KIDS PLUS/Comm. Ed. Room
May 13th  3:30-5:30 p.m. 
 (Vicki will collect the students after school & give them a snack before the class starts) . Parents must enter the school to pick up their child at 5:30-room is located to the right of the Commons.
