Jessica Arver
Grades 5 & 6 Teacher My name is Mrs. Arver and I am excited to be starting my FIRST year of teaching 5th and 6th grade science at Moose Lake Elementary! The beginning of this new chapter also marks my 15th year of teaching. Prior to this school year, I have spent the last 7 years teaching middle school math and science a few miles down the road in Willow River. My experience also includes teaching a variety of grade levels K-6, working as a district data specialist, math intervention specialist, and in Indian Education. I am a University of Minnesota - Duluth graduate and my background is in mathematics. Above all else, I believe that deep connections are the foundation of everything - this being especially true of a successful school year. Getting to know your child is my favorite part of my job. I believe that making mistakes is essential to helping our brain pathways grow and that every individual has the ability to learn to high levels given the right opportunities and support to flourish. I am proud to work in a district with such devoted staff and know my own children will receive an education here that is grounded in strong relationships and full of attention, rigor, and opportunity. I am an advocate for outdoor learning and fresh air and plan to spend plenty of time outside with my students this school year in all seasons. A little about me… I grew up in a small, rural community in North Dakota and spent my summers up north on Lake Vermilion fishing, swimming, and enjoying the beautiful Minnesota outdoors. I have always wanted to provide these same experiences for my own children, which guided us to where we are, now. I live in Denham with my husband, Mike, and our 3 children (and chickens and cats). We love the quiet that country life brings and spend our free time doing a handful of homesteading projects and hobbies such as gardening and making maple syrup in the spring.
