Northern Lakes Community Youth & Adult Chorus
The area’s FIRST COMMUNITY CHORUS, open to all serious and enthusiastic singers, ages 10-60. This brand new endeavour is founded and directed by Kathryn Engstrom-Welch, whose education and experience with world renowned conductors has taken her to concert stages, schools, communities, and Masterclasses in Germany, throughout Europe, and beyond. Please join us for fabulous selections of the Madrigal, Motet, Cantata, the sacred and secular, Broadway and popular selections, Classical.....with a holistic approach to singing and vocal sound....let’s see what WE CAN BE!

SATURDAY MORNING GYMNASTICS
Gymnastics is a sport designed to develop strength, coordination, balance and flexibility. You will learn basic gymnastics skills and get a great introduction to a wonderful sport. Class will include warm up, stretching and basic tumbling as well as balance beam and vault activities. Instructor, Carrie Sandell has been involved with the sport for over 22 years, has been coaching at the varsity level for 9 years and is the new Rebels Cheerleader coach!

Intro to German-Language & Culture-Join ANY Session!
Speak, read, count, order from a menu, master a recipe & learn what those crazy road signs mean! Instructor, Kathryn Enstrom Welch, offers a relaxed setting, no pressure, just an intro to language basics & cultural insights-with a bit of silly in between! Under her belt, Kathryn has lived in Germany for 18 years and promises you’ll be speaking and writing by Spring! This course is recommended for ages 16 plus.

FOSTER CARE WORKSHOP-CANCELED.....we will offer again in Spring.
“Making a Difference in a Child’s Life”, a workshop for individuals interested in becoming a foster care provider. This workshop will cover the kind of youth served in foster care, requirements for foster care providers, the process for becoming licensing and approved to do foster care, and also the ongoing support for foster care providers. In addition information regarding adoption through the foster care system will also be presented. Feel free to come with questions. Mary Hofmann, Kindred Family Focus Case Manager and a local Kindred Family Focus foster care provider will facilitate the workshop.

Youth A.T.V. Safety Training
Students must be at least 11 years old and must complete the MN ATV Safety online training, www.dnr.state.mn.us prior to class. The parental release forms and information packets are available at the Moose Lake Comm. Ed. office, all printed material from the online training will be turned in on registration day.
You’ll also need to bring these items with you to class: Helmet with shield or goggles, Boots, Gloves, Long pants and shirt, ATV and a self-addressed, stamped business size envelope. You must also pre-register for this class.
*Lunch will be provided by the Evergreen P.A.C ATV Club, and parents are invited to stay for the day and have lunch with us also.

YOUTH DRIVER’S EDUCATION
Community Education offers teen driver’s education in cooperation with Mille Lacs Driving Instruction (MLDI). The goal of MLDI is not only to have students pass their driving test, but to help them become safe drivers.. All instructors are licensed by the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Classroom instruction prepares the student to take the MN permit test. Classroom locations will vary between ML High School and Barnum High School. After finishing the 30 hours of classroom and passing the permit test, students can schedule their Behind-the-Wheel instruction.

My Aging Parents Need Help-Now What?
Few experiences can be more stressful than dealing with an aging parent and not knowing where to look for help. This class is designed for those who are beginning the process of finding resources for an older adult. Catherine Sampson, Director of the Area Agency on Aging, will cover many topics, including available home and community-based services, when to start looking for help, and how to pay for it. Information on how to communicate as a family to include everyone and deal with the many emotions that are present, when is it time to take away the car keys or to down size, and help our parents feel a part of the process and leave a legacy. No one should feel alone or overwhelmed when the needs of their parents begin to increase. Resources will also be provided for agencies in the area. MLHS Media Center

This 7- week session is open to both beginning and intermediate level students. Its focus is on applying the movements associated with belly dance to exercise. The class will include stretching, review, introduction to advanced movements, a short aerobic routine and learning a choreographed dance. Course will also cover aspects of dance performance.

55+ DRIVE REFRESHER & 8 HOUR COURSES
Save 10% on your Auto Insurance. The MN Highway Safety and Research Center at St. Cloud State Univ. developed this program, specifically for Senior Drivers. It consists of 8 hours of lecture, discussion and educational videos. There are no written or behind the wheel tests. Upon completion of the course, drivers over the age of 55 are eligible for a 10% discount on their auto insurance. Just mention the words “Home Alone,” and children think of the excitement depicted in the movies of the same name. The reality of being home alone can evoke fear and anxiety in many children. Whether left alone for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, children should feel comfortable being alone. This workshop for children will address several topics to relating to being “Home Alone”. Topics include personal safety tips, stranger danger, basic first aid, fire safety, handling the unexpected, internet safety, dealing with loneliness and boredom, storm safety, dealing with siblings as well as trust and honesty. For students in 3rd grade & up. Snack provided.

Rustic Stick/Bent Willow Furniture
John Bajda is returning to help you make your special project. First you need to attend the informational session where you’ll see samples of furniture, a demo., lots of photos to help you decide what to make, learn how to prep your materials for the workshop day, and what types of trees are best suited for your project. The only tools you will need are a saw, pruning sheers, hammer, tape measure, marking pen and screw gun. We do require that participants sign up in pairs, this makes the project much easier to build and complete in one day. Each team can make a chair, bench, etc., and help each other with their projects. Don’t be intimidated by the one-day work session, with proper preparation, you can easily complete your project with time to spare! Bring a bag lunch for Saturday
