Vision and Hearing
Vision and Hearing Screening is
done in the fall for all students in Kindergarten - 5th grade, 7th and
10th grades. This screening is done with the help of parent volunteers.
If a student does not pass at the time of the initial screening, they
are re-screened in 2 weeks. If they fail the rescreen, a referral letter
is sent to the parents recommending further assessment.
Students can be screened any time during the school year at the request of the parent or staff member.
If you are available to volunteer for screening, please let me know.
Vision and Hearing Screening will be in September 2015, with rescreen in October
has revised their recommendations for Scoliosis Screening in schools.
Girls will be screened in the fall of 5th grade and the spring of 6th
grade. Boys no longer will be screened.
A referral letter will be sent in the mail if your daughter needs further assessment at the doctor's office.
Early Childhood Screening
Early Childhood Screening is done in February at Moose Lake School.
We screen children ages 3 1/2 - 4 1/2.
Children are screened at this age to determine if they have needs that require intervention before Kindergarten.
Early Childhood Screening is required by the State of Minnesota before a child starts Kindergarten.
February 2017 we will screen children with birthdates between
9/1/12 and 8/31/13. These children will attend Kindergarten in the year
Screening will be of Feb. 7, 2017, for children not attending School Readiness
or Mini Moose Daycare. These children are screened in the fall while at school.
Information and appointments will be sent to parents in January 2016.
Please call Ros Evenson at 485-4834 ext. 1140 to verify that your child
is included on the Moose Lake School Census. We often do not know of
preschool children in our district, if you have not notified the school
directly. Her email is
